SITE CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN
JOB DESCRIPTION: Integral design team member responsible for technical and regulatory support with civil/site engineering projects.
• Responsible for project support and engineering tasks under the direction of design staff
• Assist with site design, plan preparation and drafting of concepts, site plans and subdivisions including grading, utility and stormwater management design, hydraulic/hydrologic studies, earthwork computations and soil erosion & sediment control
• Assist in the preparation and filing of municipal, county, state and other regulatory review agency submissions
• Assist in the preparation of technical applications and reports associated with municipal, county, state and other regulatory review agencies
• Assist with construction inspections and survey as necessary
• Assist with project financial and resource management allocations
REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be in the last 2 years of college pursuing BS in Civil Engineering OR pursuing a graduate degree. EIT a plus
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

This includes but is not limited to CAD, office research, boundary line determination, construction lay out, and post processing collected field data. FIELD POSITIONS: We are looking for qualified individuals to join our surveying field-crew in performing several different tasks. Field work includes topographic and boundary data collection as well residential and large format construction layout in urban and rural environments.

Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing project plans and specifications
- Prepare material takeoffs and quantity surveys
- Solicit quotes from vendors and subcontractors
- Prepare cost estimates and bid packages
- Assist in project budgeting, cost tracking, and management

The Township of Millburn is seeking a current college student, preferably studying civil engineering, (rising sophomore – senior) to work under the supervision of a licensed engineer for a summer internship in the Engineering Department. Work will vary throughout the summer and include the design and preparation of plans and cost estimates for various civil related projects in a municipal government setting. Construction observation and reporting is also required.
Applicants should be motivated to work on roadway improvements, municipal infrastructure, stormwater management, and site development projects. Prior experience is not required, but an interest in learning is essential. Excellent computer skills, working knowledge of AutoCAD, good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are a must. In addition, candidates must have a current NJ driver’s license and be prepared to walk active construction sites. Start and end date of the internship is flexible with the college schedule.
