APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure has a Strive Internship Program, and we are looking for candidates to fill two positions in North Jersey area on New Jersey Turnpike Authority projects. APTIM has a long history in the Engineering disciplines, our name has changed a couple of times in the past 25 years, but our storied past and roots belong to Stone and Webster Engineering Corp.. For approximately 40 years, we have managed major bridge and roadway infrastructure projects for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, managing well over 1 billion dollars of bridge and roadway construction for the Authority. As a company APTIM wants to grow it’s presents in the NJ/NY Region and wants young professionals to grow organically from within our company, opening great opportunities for interns and new graduates.

Job Overview:
APTIM is seeking energetic and motivated intern to join our Construction Management team in New Jersey. APTIM's internship program provides Graduate and Undergraduate students with the opportunity to apply skills gained in an academic setting to challenging projects and meaningful work assignments. Interns will be paired with experienced mentors and should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, finishing their internship having gained a broad experience in various aspects of Construction Management focused on the transportation sector. This is a temporary position.
The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12-week experience running from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026. Interns are required to be fully available during Week 1 (May 18-22) and Week 12 (August 3-7) of the program. Week 12 includes company-paid travel to an APTIM office (location to be announced) for an end-of-internship celebration.
Interns are expected to minimize absences to ensure a meaningful program experience. The program observes Memorial Day (May 25, 2026) and Independence Day (July 3, 2026, observed).
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Support the Office Engineer with reports, calculations, estimations and inspections
- Learn about Traffic Operations / MOT (MPT) for lane closures, detours and signage, coordinating constructability reviews
- Coordination and stakeholder engagement with various project authorities having jurisdiction
- Perform varied office engineering functions in preparing and supervising the preparation of reports, estimates, plans, and specifications
- Assist with scheduling, conducting and documenting meetings
- Use best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services
- Conduct field activities for investigation or inspection with senior personnel
- Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations
Basic Qualifications:
- Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or similar with an interest in construction management in the transportation industry.
- Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have experience with MS Office software
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
- May be subject to random drug and substance abuse screening
- Must be a self-starter, excel in time management, and work well under pressure
- Must be available to work in various settings such as at project field site or field office trailer.

SITE CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN
JOB DESCRIPTION: Integral design team member responsible for technical and regulatory support with civil/site engineering projects.
• Responsible for project support and engineering tasks under the direction of design staff
• Assist with site design, plan preparation and drafting of concepts, site plans and subdivisions including grading, utility and stormwater management design, hydraulic/hydrologic studies, earthwork computations and soil erosion & sediment control
• Assist in the preparation and filing of municipal, county, state and other regulatory review agency submissions
• Assist in the preparation of technical applications and reports associated with municipal, county, state and other regulatory review agencies
• Assist with construction inspections and survey as necessary
• Assist with project financial and resource management allocations
REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be in the last 2 years of college pursuing BS in Civil Engineering OR pursuing a graduate degree. EIT a plus
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
