Student Funding and Opportunities in Civil and Environmental Engineering
CEE Student Ambassadors represent the department of civil and environmental engineering at university events and share their experiences with others to promote the department and the discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Give tours of CEE Department
- Presentations at open houses and experience days
- Must participate in at least 4 events
- Media coverage (your photo and bio on the CEE website and CEE social media)
Event dates:
- Sunday, April 7, 2024 - Experience Day
- Sunday, April 21, 2024 - Spring Open House
- On call for tours of the department
What you will receive:
- Improving leadership and communication skills
- CEE polo to wear at events
- Certificate of completion for hours completed
- Lunch will be provided for events
Eligibility:
- 3.2 Cumulative GPA
- Currently in the BSCE program

Undergraduate student researcher positions are available in the Dr. Wen Zhang’s research group at NJIT, which covers the following research areas: (1) Material characterization at nanoscale using hybrid atomic force microscope (AFM); (2) Environmental behavior and interfacial processes for nanomaterials; (3) Novel catalytic processes for harnessing renewable energy and pollutant degradation; (4) Reactive magnetophoretic separation systems; (5) Catalytically reactive membrane filtration for emerging contaminant removal. Teaching assistantships are available for PhD students studying in structural or geotechnical areas with support for up to four years of graduate study. Applicants must have a MSCE degree in these areas of specialization.
Admission and financial support will be evaluated only after all application documents have been received. Documents required for application include application form, 3 letters of recommendation, proof of degree(s) completion, official transcript(s) from all universities attended, $60 application fee, GRE, and TOEFL (international students). Admission and assistantship application is through NJIT's graduate admissions office (Graduate Admissions Office, NJIT, University Heights, Newark, NJ 07102).

Research assistants are needed for supported research in drinking water engineering. The work involves analytical methods development, source water characterization, bench/pilot scale testing, and other related work to optimization of water treatment disinfection processes. Potential Ph.D. candidates should have good knowledge in environmental chemistry and water treatment, and have laboratory experience.

The John A. Reif, Jr. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is hiring several graders to assist in grading of assignments at the undergraduate level.
