Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Research
Transportation
This faculty group has a carved out a strong research ‘niche’ in the areas of traffic analysis, safety issues, and regional transportation planning, with a special strength in computer simulation and modeling. Projects are also underway in the area of transportation security and disaster routing.
Researchers: Chien, Daniel, Deutschman, Greenfeld, Liu, and Spasovic
Sponsors: USDOT, FHWA, NJDOT, NJ Transit, and Greyhound
Environmental
The CEE Faculty conducts research on a wide variety of environmental topics including surface chemistry, environmental systems modeling, water and wastewater treatment, site remediation, environmental impact analysis and context sensitive design.
Researchers: Axe, Ding, Dresnack, Golub, Hsieh, Marhaba, Meegoda, Olenik, and Schuring
Sponsors: USEPA, DoD, DoE, NJDEP, and DuPont
Infrastructure/Materials
This faculty group mainly focuses on research to improve infrastructure materials and design methods, including very early strength concrete, bridge structures, pipeline corrosion, and noise walls. Structural modeling for seismic retrofitting and structural hardening is also underway.
Researchers: Hsu, Karaa, Khera, Konon, Luke, Meegoda, Raghu, Saadeghvaziri, Spillers, and Wecharatana
Sponsors: NSF, NJDOT, UMDMJ, Sika Corporation, and PRM Engineering
Geospatial
Our Geospatial faculty are active in the areas of Geomatics and GIS applications in transportation systems, as well as remote sensing for environmental analysis.
Researchers: Bagheri, Chien, Greenfeld
Sponsors: NASA, NOAA, and NJDOT
