Research Interests

Global Positioning System: Since the establishment of the CORS station at NJIT, became involved in GPS research as it applies to surveying GIS and Transportation. Main research is in optimal use of GPS for precise location of points and objects. Notable achievements in this area:

  • Published (or submitted for publication) 5 journal refereed papers
  • Working on a Mean high water determination project using GPS
  • Chair of the GPS/Geodetic control committee of the NJ state mapping advisory committee

Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Utilization of parcel mapping as a management tool for (local) government and GIS applications in transportation. Notable achievements in this area:

  • Co-authored a chapter in the "Digital Parcel Mapping Handbook"
  • Published 8 journal refereed papers on various GIS topics
  • Drafted the parcel mapping standards for the state of NJ.
  • Working on a map-matching project for the TIDE center
  • Chair of the GIS certification committee of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping
