Dr. Guzman received his Ph. D. in Civil/Gentechnical Engineering from New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering. He has served as an adjunct professor at Manhattan College, New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering, and Southern Polytechnic State University in Georgia. Dr. Guzman has over 12 years of professional consulting experience. He has worked as engineer and project manager on government and private sector projects within the field of geotechnical and structural engineering.

CE 341 Soil Mechanics. A study of soil types and properties is made with the objective of developing a basic understanding of soil behavior. The methods of subsurface investigation and compaction are presented. Fundamentals pertaining to permeability, seepage, consolidation, and shear strength are introduced.
CE 443 Foundation Design. Site investigation, selection of foundation types and basis for design, allowable loads, and permissible settlements of shallow and deep foundations. Computations of earth pressure and design of retaining walls.
