The CEE Department offers degree programs in civil engineering, environmental engineering, critical infrastructures and transportation. The Department’s undergraduate program in civil engineering is fully accredited by ABET, the national Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. NJIT is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The Department’s research programs focus in the areas of environmental and water resources engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and transportation. The Departmental faculty research grants are on the order of $200,000/year/faculty – provide an excellent source of support to both graduate and undergraduate students. We offer a number of scholarships to qualified undergraduate students and teaching/research assistantships to graduate students.
The Department’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter is a very active and vibrant organization that is nationally recognized for its award winning Steel Bridge Team, lately receiving 1st place regionally and high rankings nationally. Our Engineers Without Borders Student Chapter is another very active group of students performing urgently needed service activities related to providing clean water and proper disposal of wastewater.
Civil, environmental and transportation engineering students pursuing an educational program at NJIT have a great opportunity to learn from a spectacular well-rounded faculty, interact with a wonderful student body, and prepare for an exciting professional career.
